Brewery sets social media ablaze with unusual new beer flavor: ‘Can’t wait to try it’ - Yahoo Entertainment

Whether you love it, hate it or haven’t had it, you can’t avoid it. Oat milk is everywhere.

The trend dairy alternative has seen an explosion in recent years, with Instagram feeds, grocery stores and, as of this summer, Starbucks embracing the plant-based beverage.

Now, oat milk has officially entered the world of beer. It’s all thanks to Dogfish Head Brewery, which just debuted its aptly named “Hazy-O!” IPA.

The beer, which was apparently brewed with the help of “oat milk scientists,” packs a pretty hefty punch — both oat-wise and alcohol-wise. According to Dogfish Head, Hazy-O! is a 7.1 alcohol by volume brew with four different kinds of oats.

Your excitement over the beer is probably based on how much you like oat milk, which, like any trendy drink, has faced its fair share of backlash. A quick search for the beverage will find plenty of claims that it’s “not milk,” as well as deep dives into its nutritional value.

Beer lovers, meanwhile, seem pretty excited about the idea. Hazy-O! is currently available only at Dogfish Head’s brewery in Milton, Del., with a nationwide release scheduled for early next year. It seems like some social media users are struggling to wait that long.

I’ve always wanted a super grain/oat heavy IPA,” one Instagram user commented on the brewery’s announcement.

“We’ve gotta try this,” another wrote.

“Can’t wait to try it,” another added.

In the meantime, oat milk fans can only guess what the beer tastes like. If it’s any indication, the brewery claims Hazy O! is made with “literally truckloads of oats & wheat.”

Dogfish Head’s news is obviously just one chapter in a year of oat milk-centric developments. The drink is clearly having a moment, whether you like it or not. In fact, the oat milk industry accounted for $3.7 billion in worldwide revenue last year.

That means there’s bound to be plenty more oat milk creations to try in the near future. Next up? A vegan, oat milk-based chocolate bar.
