The chain has temporarily removed oat milk as an option when ordering via their website or app, but you still might be able to get it ordering in-store. If your local Starbucks is currently out of oat milk, you can order their other non-dairy milk options such as almond, soy, or coconut. Although, the new trendy Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso won’t be quite the same.
Starbucks expects the shortage to only be temporary and the shortage should end soon, according to a representative from the company who spoke with CNN Business. “Due to high demand, some customers may experience a temporary shortage of oat milk at their store,” the spokesperson said, adding that oat milk is expected to return soon. However, they did not give an exact timeframe.
Although frustrating, the Starbucks oat milk shortage is a positive measure for the vegan movement. We’ve been seeing more and more people opt for plant-based milk over dairy milk, even if they’re not fully vegan. This is better for the animals, the planet, and people’s health.
