Oats are considered to be the healthiest cereal because of its versatile qualities. This gluten-free grain is rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants. It can also lower your cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar and protect the heart and colon. Kunal Mutha, founder of Only Earth, is here to convince us to include oats in our everyday lifestyle for its promising benefits!
Oats And Overall Health
“Oats and oat-based products like oat milk are significantly loaded with dietary fibre and a range of healthy cholesterol-lowering properties,” he notes. This superfood is a key food item that has proven good for the heart. It not only reduces the risk of developing colorectal cancer but also is effective in lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, risk of heart disease and blood sugar.

Oats For Hair And Skin
“Oat milk is a great antioxidant, repairing the skin from daily wear and tear, UV radiation, pollution, and more,” Mutha advocates. It also ensures a glowing skin by reducing pigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles. Its anti-inflammatory properties reduce acne flare ups. “Oat milk contains high amounts of B vitamins like riboflavin and B12.” Vitamin-B ensures strong hair, nails, and skin. “In fact, vitamin B12 specifically is often found in hair, skin, and nail supplements. A few sources say that B vitamins also help fight oxidative damage to our cells from harmful free radicals, helping to minimise skin damage and encourage cellular repair,” he says.
Best Time To Consume Oats
Oat milk being light and low in calories, can be consumed at any time of day. Even those who are lactose intolerant can easily digest it. “The starch in oats is naturally broken down when soaked overnight, allowing the oats to absorb more nutrients. In addition, the acid in the oats breaks down overnight, making digestion simpler. Due to the mushy texture, overnight oats are much easier to eat first thing in the morning,” Mutha explains. This whole grain is strong in fibre, so eating it on an empty stomach will improve your metabolism and help your body turn food into energy more rapidly.

How To Get Maximum Benefits From Oats
Oats offer wholesome benefits whether you add them to your diet or to your skincare regimen. “Both your gut and skin are going to thank you for including oats in your life. So why not get the best of both worlds?” Mutha laughs. Oat-based meals loaded with added fibre, antioxidants are advisable for all to eat. You can also use oats to make a facepack for a glowing and healthy skin.
Limit For Consuming Or Topically Applying Oats
There is no set limit for intaking oats but like other foods it should be consumed in proportion. “Also, if you have a sensitive gut or skin and are allergic to a variety of goods and meals, you should make gradual modifications,” he adds.
Oats benefits are plenty, and it’s not for nothing that this wholesome and delicious food is given so much credit!
