(WKBN)- The Quaker Oats Company announced on Wednesday that more of its granola bars have been recalled nationwide.
The company has announced that its Quaker Chewy Dipps Llama Rama bars have been recalled due to salmonella concerns.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (USDA), the product was discontinued in September 2023 and has “Best Before” dates of February 10 or 11, 2024. The USDA said the products were sold throughout the 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan.
According to the alert from the USDA, salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people who are infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In some circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The USDA said that this is an expansion of the recalls that were issued on December 15 and January 11. For a complete list of Quaker Oats Company’s recalled products, click here.
