Known as the "golden belt of agricultural production", Ganzhou District, Southwest China, lies between the Qilian Mountains in the south, and the Badan Jaran Desert in the north. Mr. Ge Yonghong, secretary of the Ganzhou District Party Committee said that in recent years, the district has concentrated all resources to speed up the cultivation of industries. The district strives to build four agricultural industrial clusters, namely green vegetables, dairy cattle, modern seed industry, and modern facility agriculture. At present, the agricultural products of the Ganzhou District have not only gone to major domestic markets but have also been exported to the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Japan.
"This year, we invested more than 300 hectares of watermelon cultivation in Wujiang Town, and the watermelon has already entered the market. The sales are mainly in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the major high-end supermarkets in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou", M r. Xu Peng, general manager of Zhangye Fangzhou Agricultural Development, said.
In total, 20 companies in Ganzhou District import and export products to Southeast Asia, Western Europe, the United States, Central Asia, Russia, and other places. The export goods mainly include dried and fresh vegetables.
Mr. Wanglong, a farmer in No.6 Village has five vegetable greenhouses, which mainly grow eggplant, cucumber, and baby cabbage. "As soon as the vegetables in our greenhouses were harvested, buyers would come to buy them immediately. So we didn’t have to worry about selling these vegetables. Last year, the profits of these five vegetable greenhouses were close to 200,000 RMB," he said.
