REVIEW – After reviewing their Gluten-Free Waffles, Honey Stinger offered me a chance to review their Oat + Honey bars. I gladly accepted their gracious offer and got the opportunity to try both flavor options- Original and Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Here is what I thought…
What is it
The Honey Stinger Oat + Honey Pre-Workout bar is a delicious pre-workout blend of carbs, fat & protein with the goal to fill you up without weighing you down. Honey is an all-star ingredient found in all Honey Stinger products, because it’s good for your body and your taste buds, easy to digest and quickly absorbed. Plus honey helps power your performance without causing a sugar crash like other sweeteners.

Ingredients
Honey Stinger takes great pride in the selection of ingredients used in their products, and only uses the highest quality available, which includes Non-GMO ingredients. The Honey Stinger Oat + Honey bars feature a soft and chewy texture with toasted oats, caramel + honey around a creamy nut core
Oat + Honey Bar (Original)
Ingredients: Peanuts, Instant Oats, Organic Honey, Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate), Salt, Caramel Layer (Cane Sugar, Tapioca Syrup, Organic Honey, Sustainable Palm Oil, Reduced Lactose Whey (Milk), Salt, Sunflower Lecithin), Honey Granola (Rolled Oats, Quinoa, Honey, Sunflower Oil, Sunflower Lecithin, Rosemary Extract (Antioxidant)). Contains: Milk and Peanuts. Made in a facility that also processes Tree Nuts (Almonds), Eggs, Wheat, and Soy.
Oat + Honey Bar (Chocolate Chocolate Chip)
Ingredients: Peanuts, Instant Oats, Organic Honey, Protein Blend (Whey Protein Isolate, Milk Protein Isolate), Salt, Caramel Layer (Cane Sugar, Tapioca Syrup, Organic Honey, Sustainable Palm Oil, Reduced Lactose Whey (Milk), Salt, Sunflower Lecithin), Granola (Rolled Oats, Sugar, Quinoa, Sunflower Oil, Organic Chocolate (Organic Chocolate Liquor, Organic Cane Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter)), Cocoa (Processed with Alkali), Natural Flavor (With Other Natural Flavors), Sunflower Lecithin, Rosemary Extract (Antioxidant). Contains: Milk and Peanuts. Made in a facility that also processes Tree Nuts (Almonds), Eggs, Wheat, and Soy.
Honey Stinger uses honey, a natural form of energy and antioxidants, combined with other natural sweeteners as the energy source for all products.
Other Honey Stinger Bars
Speaking of other products, I want to make sure to mention that Honey Stinger has a few other bar types in their line of products. The Oat + Honey Bar is the newest, but they also have a Nut + Seed Bar and a Protein Bar. In the Nut + Seed Bar options you can choose from Almond Pumpkin or Peanut Sunflower Nut. In the Protein Bar, you can choose from Coconut Almond or Peanut Butta. I can not comment on these bar options, but if it is similar to the other products Honey Stinger produces, I imagine they are worth a try.
Taste
The Honey Stinger Oat + Honey Bars overall are tasty. For me, I enjoyed the Original option over the Chocolate Chocolate Chip. You can taste the oats and peanuts with just the right amount of sweetness mixed throughout with the caramel and honey. I found that the ingredient changes for the Chocolate Chocolate Chip just didn’t add anything to improve on the Original option. The only other thing I did notice was that they are messy to eat. The oats fall off as you enjoy, so it wouldn’t be something I would want to eat in the car. Funny enough the Original was more messy than the Chocolate Chocolate Chip. Just something to consider when you choose where you will enjoy your Oat + Honey Bar.
What I like
- Non-GMO Ingredients
- Gluten-Free
- Taste good
What I’d change
- Price point
- Add a build your own variety box including the Oat + Honey, as well as the Nut + Seed and Protein bar options
- Can be messy to eat
Final thoughts
Honey Stinger produces products that are not only packed full of good ingredients, but also taste good. I’m going to admit I not one who uses products like these to fuel pre or post workout, so I couldn’t justify the cost just to have on hand for snack time. However, I do have a high school athlete that I’m happy to supply these products to when she is conditioning for hockey and lacrosse. So, if you are looking at a great option and lead a very active lifestyle, I would recommend you test out what Honey Stinger has to offer and let me know what you think!
