On December 15, the Quaker Oats Company recalled more than 40 if its products, including its granola bars and granola cereals due to possible salmonella contamination. The company is now recalling dozens more of its products due to the same concerns, according to an updated announcement from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The expansion includes additional cereals, bars, and snacks including Cap'n Crunch Treats Crunch Berries Cereal Bars, Quaker Chewy Granola Breakfast Cereal Chocolate, Munchies Snack Mix, and Quaker Oatmeal Squares Cinnamon. All of the products are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the FDA.

All of the products included in the expanded recall are distributed throughout all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Saipan, and are sold at major retailers like Walmart, Sam's Club, and Publix.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, the FDA states. Common symptoms of the infection often include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
