In the 2020/2021 campaign, the United Kingdom purchased 2,987.9 million kilos of vegetables from other countries for €3,546.66 million and an average price of €1.19/kg.
The Netherlands sold the most expensive vegetables to the British markets, which were 26.61% more expensive than the Spanish vegetables. Morocco also surpassed Spain in price, selling its vegetables 24.66% more expensive than the Spanish products, according to data prepared by Hortoinfo from Comtrade, the FAO Statistical Service.
Spain was the leading vegetable supplier to the United Kingdom with 32.29% of the total, followed by the Netherlands with 17.53%, Belgium with 5.99%, Morocco with 4.42%, and Poland with 4.1% of the total.
Specifically, Spain sold a total of 964.87 million kilos of vegetables to the United Kingdom during the campaign for a value of €990.39 million and an average price of €1.03/kg.
The Netherlands sold 523.78 million kilos of vegetables to the UK for a value of €680.62 million and an average price of €1.30/kg.
Belgium sold 179.1 million kilos of vegetables worth €185.76 million and an average price of €1.04/kg.
Moroccan vegetable sales to the UK amounted to 131.95 million kilos for €168.71 million and an average price of €1.28/kg.
Poland sold the UK 122.4 million kilos worth €138.91 million and an average price of €1.13/kg.
