With the help of 5G technology, the Tanjiawan Yunshang Agricultural Experimental Site in Wuzhen has digitally upgraded agriculture, and ordinary citizens can also grow vegetables in the "cloud". The robot team has taken over most of the labor such as fertilization, spraying medicine, and farming, which describes to the public a new scene of digital agriculture in the future.

During his work breaks, programmer Xiaoyong used his mobile phone to click the "watering" function in his “farms” when he physically is still in Hangzhou, far from the Tanjiawan Yunshang Agricultural Experiment Field in Wuzhen. Through the operations on the phone, he can directly spray by drip irrigation in his exclusive vegetable field.

Although this might sound like a  sci-fi movie, this actually takes place in Wuzhen.

In August 20 this year, Xiaoyong booked a 144-square-meter vegetable garden on the farm, where he planted vegetables such as hot peppers, line peppers, cauliflower, cabbage, and others. Xiaoyong uses a remote cloud supervisor on his mobile phone. On this app, he can check the growth of vegetables in real-time, fertilize and remove insects, and he can also choose a dedicated technician to handle occuring problems. Like playing mobile games, he can also remotely water and fertilize during his free time and in the end, he can also enjoy genuine organic vegetables.

Since its launch on August 20th, 3 plots of land have had new owners, and a freshly leveled vegetable plot has potential customers. These vegetable gardens are the full-featured version of digital farms newly launched this year by Wuzhen Tanjiawan Yunshang Agricultural Experimental Field.

"The concept of the digital farm is like a mobile game that users can interact online and offline," said Song Lei, head of the Field. Song Lei also told that relying on a series of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things, blockchain, and edge computing, real farms can be mapped to the cloud. Consumers can own a piece of land of their own in both the virtual world and the real world, realizing immersive farming.
