Subway continues to refresh its menu, this time, bringing back a favorite bread, rolling out its spiciest sauce systemwide and partnering on a potato chip inspired by a signature flavor.

The Miami-based chain announced Thursday that it is returning Honey Oat Bread to the menu for a limited time after a four-year absence. Social media tributes, petitions from fans and copycat recipes circulating online convinced Subway to bring it back. The multigrain bread, rolled in Subway’s signature honey oat topping, adds a touch of sweet and earthy flavor to any sub.

Subway’s Creamy Sriracha sauce, previously available in select units, is now on the permanent menu at all locations. It’s the chain’s spiciest sauce, blended with red chilis and enhanced with a creamy texture to customize a sandwich with a shot of heat.

Another of Subway’s iconic sauces, Baja Chipotle, is now flavoring kettle-cooked potato chips through a collaboration with the Miss Vickie’s brand. Miss Vickie’s Baja Chipotle chips combine crunchy potato chips with the smoke and spice that characterizes Subway’s popular Baja Chipotle Sauce.

“These latest upgrades to Subway’s menu will delight any sandwich lover craving something with bold and unique flavor, whether it’s light and sweet or bringing the heat,” Paul Fabre, Subway’s senior vice president of culinary and innovation, said in a statement. “While our fans know and love our Honey Oat Bread and Creamy Sriracha sauce, I can’t wait for them to see how we reimagined our signature Baja Chipotle Sauce in our partnership with Miss Vickie’s.”

April is seeing a flurry of menu activity at Subway. Earlier this month, the chain introduced a line of four wrap sandwiches served on lavash-style flatbread. They include Homestyle Chicken Salad, Honey Mustard Chicken, Turkey, Bacon and Avocado and Cali Caprese.

The evolution of Subway’s menu began with its “Eat Fresh Refresh” initiative in July, 2021, with 11 new and improved ingredients and the addition of four new sandwiches. The refresh continued a year later, with the debut of 12 chef-curated sandwiches in the Subway Series. Other updates followed, including the Sidekicks snacking lineup of footlong churros, cookies and pretzels in January.
