Do you struggle with getting the kids to eat more vegetables? While family meals shouldn’t be a battle, America’s favorite vegetable might make have the dinner table a little perplexed. Do people really like this vegetable best?

According to a recent survey by Green Giant, the top three favorite vegetables are carrots, corn and broccoli. And, America’s favorite vegetable is broccoli, which tops the list for yet another year.

While everyone can appreciate a healthy eating lifestyle that incorporates lots of fruits and vegetables, the younger crowd might not specifically ask for broccoli. Even the late President Bush wasn’t a fan of the cruciferous vegetable. Whether it is people appreciating that the vegetable has good nutritional benefits or something else, the reality is that broccoli is what’s for dinner.

Luckily, many food sites have a variety of creative recipes to enjoy broccoli. From the always popular cheddar smothered vegetable to even a simple broccoli salad, the truth is that there is probably a way to enjoy it even for those people who aren’t the most vocal fans.

Even Green Giant has flavorful ways of serving it. From herb flavors to even Veggie Tots with cheese, sometimes eating those vegetables can be fun.

Although broccoli remains America’s favorite vegetable, carrots are surging in popularity. With a 500% increase, it seems that Bugs Bunny has had a big influence on carrot fans. Finally, more people are seeing the benefits from that sweet, crunchy root vegetables.

Plus, carrots have a tremendous amount of versatility. From enjoyed raw to a luscious puree to even using them in desserts, there is always a reason to have some carrots in the house.

Like all food trends, some choices reflect age. Corn remains popular with older demographic groups. And, it seems to be growing in popularity. Maybe it was everyone missing that popcorn at the movie theater last year.

While broccoli still reigns supreme as America’s favorite vegetable, it doesn’t mean that the next poll will have the same findings. Just like cucumbers have disappeared from the favorite list, broccoli could be the forgotten crop for 2022. Maybe next year will see the rutabaga become the new “it” vegetable.

What is your favorite vegetable? Do you think that it is time to try some un-traditional vegetable at the dinner table?
