Snagging your favorite Starbucks treat might be more difficult because of shortages involving ingredients such as oat milk.

When you open the Starbucks app, you'll see a message warning of the absence of some menu options.

"Due to current supply shortages, some of your favorites may be temporarily out of stock," it reads.

In a statement emailed to USA TODAY, Starbucks spokesperson Sanja Gould confirmed shortages will vary by store or market. The nondairy oat milk option was temporarily pulled from some Starbucks stores, and drinks with oat milk will not be available until the company is able to restock.

According to Business Insider, which cited an internal company memo, Starbucks put orders for ingredients such as hazelnut syrup and chai tea bags on a "temporary hold" because of supply chain issues, which have been widespread among other businesses and sectors amid the pandemic.

The Wall Street Journal, citing store baristas, reported items such as cake pops and cup stoppers are in short supply at some stores.

Customers vented on social media about not being able to purchase their favorite items, ranging from lemonade to breakfast sandwiches, because of the shortages.

"Starbucks having a matcha shortage is probably the most disrespectful thing they could’ve done to me," wrote a Twitter user who goes by the handle @lenehdz.

Starbucks introduced oat milk nationwide in March as an option to add to drinks, as well as a prime ingredient in new drinks such as the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso.

A month later, Starbucks told CNN of temporary shortages involving oat milk, citing high demand.

This week, the coffee chain announced it will again allow customers to bring in personal, reusable cups after the option was put on pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
