In the first four months of 2021, Mexican fruit and vegetable exports increased by 13.3% in volume and 13.5% in value, when compared to the same period of the previous year.

Mexican fruit exports increased by 12.9% and their commercial value grew by 15.2% between January and April. According to data prepared by the Agricultural Markets Consultant Group (GCMA) based on SAT figures, the fruits that registered an increase in their export volume were grapefruit (+47.8%), mango (+30.3 %), papaya (+27.7%), avocado (+26.2%), strawberry (+16.3%), and banana (+12%).

Likewise, there was an increase in the economic value of lemon (+59.3%), mango (+57.8%), grapefruit (+30%), strawberry (+24.8%), papaya (+23.9%), berries (+18%), and avocado (+10.2%), mainly.

The fruits that registered the greatest decrease in export volume were walnuts (-45.7%), lemon (-7.6%), and berries (-5.8%).

The volume of vegetable exports in the first four months of the year increased by 13.5% and their value increased by 10.2%.

The GCMA stated that broccoli exports declined by 5.2% in volume and 3% in value. The value of green tomatoes fell by 21.5%.

The vegetables that registered the highest export volume were lettuce (+61.7%), chili peppers (+27.2%), asparagus (+24.4%), onion (+21.1%), cauliflower (+16%), green tomato (+15.7%), red tomato (+14.3%), and zucchini (+7.9%).

The vegetables that registered an increase in their value are asparagus (+30.9%), cauliflower (+19.1%), onion (+17.4%), watermelon (+17.3%) ), chili peppers (+12.8%), and red tomato (+8.7%), among others.
